Marian Opoku-Agyeman is a public health professional with over ten years’ experience in program management primarily focused on health systems strengthening, HIV/AIDS and family planning. Her work includes coordinating cross-functional teams, and building successful relationships with change agents in government, health sector and academia
At Results for Development (R4D), Ms. Opoku-Agyeman is a senior program officer on the Frontier Health Markets Engage project where she mainly coordinates the project’s collaboration with Ghana’s National Health Insurance Authority to provide financial risk protection, and supports collaboration with other health stakeholders.
Since joining R4D in 2021, Ms Opoku-Agyeman served on the Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator project where she supported the project by developing technical tools, concept notes, briefing materials, as well as engaging stakeholders, planning and implementing activities.
Before joining R4D, Ms. Opoku-Agyeman consulted for the HSSA project, facilitating its support to Ghana’s COVID 19 response, and providing technical and operational support to the COVID 19 response team. She supported the implementation of a community strengthening project for HIV clients where she developed data tools and SOPs for the project, and trained peer counselors and data officers.
Ms. Opoku-Agyeman loves to volunteer and has volunteered locally and internationally on several women and youth empowerment programs including women’s mentorship program of Vital Voices in Ghana and the Bodwell Summer Programs in Canada.
Ms. Opoku-Agyeman holds a master’s degree in public health from Umeå University in Sweden, and a BSc in biological sciences from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She speaks fluent English, and is a native speaker of Twi, the Ghanaian language.
