Results for Development (R4D) nutrition experts provided foundational data and analysis to two publications released in March: a comment in the journal Nature, as well as a policy brief published on the Micronutrient Forum. The Micronutrient Forum hosts the Standing Together for Nutrition Consortium, in which R4D participates and worked with to develop these publications.
The publications explore the impacts of recent — and massive — reductions in funding for international food aid. Both documents use R4D’s nutrition funding estimates to predict the number of children who will lose access to wasting treatment and to highlight some examples of the effects of funding cuts.
For years, R4D has tracked and reported on donor disbursements for scaling up the World Health Assembly’s priority nutrition interventions. The organization’s reporting has revealed stagnant donor funding for high-impact interventions, such as wasting treatment. Its most recent report, published last summer and titled, “Tracking aid for the WHA nutrition targets: Progress toward the global nutrition goals between 2015-2022,” unearthed a more than $2 billion donor funding gap for nutrition interventions.

About Results for Development (R4D)
Results for Development (R4D) is a global nonprofit catalyzing locally led systems change in health, education and nutrition. We work with change agents — government, civil society and private sector leaders — to build strong systems and institutions that deliver lasting and large-scale impact. We do this in two ways: By providing tailored support to country leaders as they navigate complex systems-change, and by building a more supportive ecosystem of individuals, institutions and networks that is responsive to country leader priorities. We work alongside change agents and institutions to identify innovative solutions that are built on evidence and stakeholder input and that work in the local context. Our global network of staff, fellows and local partners are pioneering approaches that center country leaders and elevate local expertise, forging new ways of working that push the entire sector forward. www.R4D.org
