Olivier Lafourcade spent 30 years with the World Bank (1973-2002) where he held a number of senior managerial positions in operations in Latin America, Africa and South Asia. His last position at the Bank was director for Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela.

After relocating to Paris, France at the end of 2002, Mr. Lafourcade is now an international consultant working on economic development issues. He is chairman of the board of I&P Developpement, a private social capital firm involved in the financing and technical support of small and medium size enterprises in Africa (part of the Investisseurs et Partenaires Group). He is a member of the board of several public and private institutions among which Expertise France (the official French technical assistance organization for international development) and the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) in support of promoting small growing businesses in the world. He lectures periodically on development issues in a number of European academic institutions, and collaborates with selected public, non-governmental and private institutions involved in development matters.
