Laurel Schmitt is a senior program officer at Results for Development (R4D), where she leads projects across R4D’s Global Education and Evaluation and Adaptive Learning practices. She has extensive experience designing and implementing “right fit” evaluation and adaptive learning approaches to support the learning journeys of non-profit organizations, donors and policymakers, and is currently a member of the team providing network facilitation leadership to the School Action Learning Exchange (SALEX).
Prior to joining R4D, Ms. Schmitt was a Peace Corps volunteer in Mozambique, where she worked closely with PEPFAR’s DREAMS Initiative and local stakeholders to strengthen the provision of adolescent reproductive health services and education.
Ms. Schmitt holds an M.Ed. in international education policy from Harvard University and a BA in international affairs from the George Washington University. A native English speaker, she is proficient in Portuguese and speaks basic Arabic.
