Roberto Dañino’s 40 year-long legal career encompasses a number of leadership positions both in the public and private sectors. He has served as prime minister of the Republic of Perú, ambassador to the United States, and senior vice president and general counsel of the World Bank, as well as secretary general of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). He was the founding general counsel of the Inter-American Investment Corporation, the private sector arm of the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, DC. Also, he has practiced corporate law for several decades, and has served as chairman of the Latin American practice of leading law firms in the United States and Perú.

At present, he serves as vice chairman of the Hochschild Group, an LSE- and NYSE-listed conglomerate that specializes in gold, silver, and phosphates mining, as well as cement production. Furthermore, he has served on the boards of various corporations and nonprofit organizations in Perú, the United States, Canada, South Africa, Spain and the United Kingdom, including the international advisory boards of Goldman Sachs, UBER Technologies, and George Soros’ Open Society Foundations.

Dañino earned law degrees from Harvard Law School and Universidad Católica del Perú. He has been granted honors, including La Orden del Sol (Gran Cruz) from the Peruvian government, and La Orden de Isabel La Católica from the Kingdom of Spain, among others.
