Amy Liang is an international development professional experienced in leading and implementing community-based programs in health and education. She hopes to merge the impact achieved in both the health and education sectors through facilitating multisectoral collaboration efforts and is particularly interested in the areas of early childhood development, education in emergencies, girls’ education, and edtech innovation.
As a senior program associate with R4D’s global education team, Amy joins her experience in health and education by providing technical and programmatic assistance to the early childhood development (ECD) portfolio. In her current project, her work focuses on strengthening primary health care systems to improve delivery of early childhood development services.
Prior to joining R4D, Amy interned for UNICEF at their global headquarters in New York, supporting the launch of the Caring for the Caregiver Package and coordinating across the ECD, Nutrition, and Supply Division teams to pilot a product innovation initiative for play stimulation.
Before that, she worked in Mozambique as a Peace Corps volunteer, where she collaborated closely with local stakeholders and INGOs including EGPAF, PEPFAR, and USAID to support community health programming, early childhood literacy, adolescent reproductive health, and girls’ empowerment.
Amy holds a M.S.Ed. in international educational development with a certificate in Global Human Rights from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in psychology with a minor in anthropology from the Geneseo State University of New York. In addition to being a native English speaker, Amy is proficient in Portuguese, Mandarin, and Cantonese and is currently learning French.
