Fantaye Teka is a market shaping specialist with 8 years of experience conducting supply chain management, market analysis, solution designing and developing product scale-up strategies, to expand access to essential healthcare products.

As a market shaping specialist at Results for Development (R4D), Mr. Teka conducts market shortcoming analysis, co-development and co-implementation of different market interventions targeted to alleviate market challenges of essential lifesaving and nutrition commodities. He facilitates the implementation of skill building workshops, targeted in-person trainings, mentoring and coaching sessions to relevant partners.

Throughout his career, Mr. Teka has worked to increase access to lifesaving essential medicines and nutrition products through holistic barriers identification, evidence generation, and designing creative solutions. He technically led the Ethiopia Pharmaceuticals Supply Service (EPSS) supply positioning exercise and subsequent supply strategy development, pharmaceuticals procurement list development and quantification of essential medicines. As a supply chain expert in Ethiopia, he coordinated the integration of maternal and child health commodities into the national pharmaceuticals logistics system. He also developed guidelines, training materials and standard operating procedures to enhance competency and standardization of supply chain operations in the country.

Prior to R4D, Fantaye was a capacity building and operational research officer at EPSS, where he delivered supply chain trainings and took part in supply chain assessments to strengthen systems in the agency. Previously, he also worked as forecasting and capacity building officer at central and branch offices of EPSS responsible for quantification, inventory management and supervision of health facilities.

He currently serves as president of the International Association of Public Health Logisticians Ethiopia chapter, where he established to network, shares experience and creates opportunities for health supply chain professionals in the country.

Mr. Teka holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from St. Paul Hospital Millennium Medical College, a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Mekelle University and a BA in marketing management from Gage College. He is a native speaker of Amharic and Guragigna and also speaks English.
