Jake Ireland is an impact-driven communications professional with more than five years’ experience managing strategic campaigns and storytelling initiatives for a variety NGOs, think tanks, charities and advocacy groups.
At Results for Development (R4D), Jake leads the Innovation practice’s communications function, working across its programmatic portfolio to spotlight the impact of its initiatives, forge strategic partnerships, and promote the scaling of solutions developed by frontline innovators working in health, nutrition and education.
Jake joins R4D with a diverse portfolio of editorial experience spanning multiple sectors, including climate-resilience, food security, nutrition, poverty reduction and humanitarian emergencies.
Prior to joining R4D, Jake was based at World Resources Institute (WRI), where he supported the Food and Land Use Coalition to spotlight initiatives aimed at scaling sustainable food systems, regenerative agriculture and climate-resilient livelihoods for smallholders in Asia, Africa and South America. During his time with the coalition, Jake worked in partnership with policy experts, business leaders, civil society groups and government representatives to deliver strategic campaigns, events and collective advocacy initiatives action at major global climate and biodiversity conferences, including COP15, COP27 and COP28 where he supported the launch of the Alliance of Champions for Food Systems Transformation. He also oversaw the coalition’s digital impact workstream, working with its country platforms, partners and global ambassadors to scale the reach of community-driven food security and nutrition initiatives in Colombia, Ethiopia, India and Indonesia.
In addition to his experience at WRI, Jake has also held communications and project management positions at a variety of agricultural and humanitarian NGOs, including Action Against Hunger, Fairtrade and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), where he worked in partnership with the FAO and IUCN to design capacity development initiatives targeted at environmental practitioners in Africa’s dryland regions.
Jake holds a BA Honors degree in English language from Queen Mary University of London and is currently working towards a postgraduate diploma in journalism with the UK National Council of Training for Journalists.
