Mahlet Tibebu (she, her, hers) is a pharmaceutical health supply chain management expert with 10 years of experience specifically in the areas of quantification and market shaping.

She is a senior program associate in the market shaping practice at R4D, working on the Multiple Micronutrient Supplement and Safe Blood Rwanda projects.

Mrs. Tibebu was a taskforce member on the Comprehensive Market Shortcomings Assessment Findings Report conducted in January 2021 in collaboration with R4D. This assessment identified major gaps in Ethiopia’s pharmaceutical supply chain management and developed a national market shaping strategy for the Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Supply Service (EPSS). Mrs. Tibebu was also a member of the national quantification taskforce and produced and implemented the national quantification tool and training manual.

Prior to joining R4D, she was the chemotherapy pharmaceuticals quantification and market shaping senior officer at EPSS, overseeing the overall management of the chemotherapy supply chain. As a member of the national chemotherapy technical working group, Mrs. Tibebu was able to improve the availability of chemotherapy medicines and reduce wastage due to expiry. She was also a member of the CPD enabling committee, where she participated in the development of various training materials including the market shaping training module with R4D. She has rich experience in providing trainings to support health care system strengthening and the management of pharmaceutical supply chains. She has been a supervisor and mentor in several health facilities providing reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health care (RMNCH) and anti-retroviral treatment (ART) commodities.

Mrs. Tibebu is a member of the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Association. She holds a master’s degree in health supply chain management from Addis Ababa University, school of Pharmacy and a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Wollo university. She is a native speaker of Amharic and also speaks fluent English.
