Marian Opoku-Agyeman is a public health professional with more than a decade of experience in health programs focused on health systems strengthening, health financing, universal health coverage (UHC), HIV, and health research.
At Results for Development (R4D), Ms. Opoku-Agyeman is a senior program officer where she manages cross-functional teams and builds strong partnerships across government, academia and the health sector.
She led the costing analysis of Ghana’s Health Promotion and Preventive Benefits Package, which generated high-level stakeholder interest and is informing the country’s primary health care initiative. She also managed a study on the National Health Insurance Authority’s financial risk protection and an assessment of HIV and nutrition services and commodities across Ghana. In addition, she supported the digitization of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency’s assessment tools and capacity-building for assessors.
Before joining R4D in 2021, she consulted for Ghana’s COVID-19 response team and supported community-based HIV programs leading the development of data tools, and training for peer counsellors.
Ms. Opoku-Agyeman holds an M.Sc. in public health from Umeå University in Sweden and a B.Sc. in biological sciences from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. She is fluent in English and a native Twi speaker.
