As the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) deadline draws near, African countries are under growing pressure to develop equitable policies grounded in strong evidence. However, ensuring that evidence consistently informs policymaking requires more than just good intentions — it demands strengthened systems, tools and shared learning across sectors.
While many tools and frameworks now exist to assess the use of evidence in policymaking, practitioners still face significant challenges in measuring their impact. These include the long-term nature of policy influence, misalignment with shorter project timelines, and frequent turnover among decision-makers.
To address this, the Africa LEEPS Partnership will host a webinar to explore how knowledge brokering organizations understand, assess, and demonstrate the impact of their work on evidence-informed policymaking (EIP).
The webinar aims to foster dialogue on innovative approaches and practical solutions for tracking and evaluating evidence-informed policymaking. It will feature a panel discussion on the challenges practitioners face in evaluating the use of evidence, as well as a dynamic discussion on tools, frameworks, and strategies to better track and improve the use of evidence.
Panelists:
- Andile Madonsela, Pan-African Collective for Evidence (PACE)
- Christine Kelly, FCDO Research Commissioning Centre, 3ie
