Global Literacy Assessment Dashboard (GLAD)

Learning assessments are a critical part of delivering quality learning experiences to children and adults, but finding the right assessment for a given context can be tricky and time consuming. Many literacy practitioners still struggle to find literacy assessments that can be adapted to their local language and culture — and that are affordable and practical for use in organizations of different sizes. The Global Literacy Assessment Dashboard (GLAD) was created to address this need to make information on literacy assessments more easily accessible.

GLAD is a crowd-sourced database of literacy assessments from around the world that was created by literacy practitioners to help literacy program staff, teachers, researchers, and other literacy practitioners explore, identify, and share the best literacy assessments for their unique contexts and the needs of those they serve. The database continues to be updated with new assessments through contributions from literacy practitioners. To contribute an assessment familiar to you, complete the GLAD Submission Form.

GLAD was spearheaded by members of the Project Literacy Community of Practice, supported by Pearson, and facilitated by Results for Development’s Center for Education Innovations. It was developed through a practitioner driven, multi-stage process, which included contributions from many individuals and organizations.
