The MNCH-N Market Assessment for Kenya offers a detailed analysis of the barriers and opportunities shaping access to essential maternal, newborn and child health and nutrition (MNCH-N) products. Led by Results for Development (R4D), in partnership with PractHealth Consulting and Maisha Meds, and supported by the Gates Foundation, this assessment provides a comprehensive look at how Kenya’s MNCH-N product markets function across both public and private sectors.
Drawing on data from 16 counties and national-level systems, the report identifies critical gaps in product availability and highlights how fragmented procurement and financing systems hinder equitable access. It also explores the supply-side market factors in Kenya – including quality, price and the role of local manufacturers.
The findings are designed to inform strategic investments and policy interventions that can accelerate progress toward Universal Health Coverage and reduce preventable maternal and child mortality. Whether you are a policymaker, donor, implementer or advocate, this report offers actionable insights to help shape a healthier future for Kenya’s women and children.
