Synthesis report of cross-country learning workshop on strengthening national safe blood systems: April 2024

Over April 23 – 25, 2024, the USAID-funded R4D-led Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator program facilitated concurrent events for action-oriented cross-country learning among Liberia, Malawi and Rwanda where participants shared successes and best practices on priority technical topics to address key challenges faced by national blood transfusion services (BTSs). The learning event focused on two priority topics: (1) Sustainable and innovative financing for national safe blood services, and (2) Generation and use of routine safe blood data for decision-making and performance management. This report provides an overview of the key insights from the Safe Blood Cross-Country Learning Event. It suggests potential directions for future support to country BTSs through learning initiatives and/or technical assistance.
