School Action Learning Exchange (SALEX) Evidence Portfolio

This portfolio is a compilation of evidence produced by members of the School Action Learning Exchange (SALEX). SALEX is a learning community comprising organizations that support schools, school leaders, and teachers, facilitated by Results for Development (R4D). Through SALEX, these organizations collaboratively generate and use evidence to implement promising practices and drive better outcomes at the school, classroom and learner levels.

SALEX members presented this evidence during the “Harvesting the Power of Evidence for Schools” network-wide convening held in Barranquilla, Colombia, from March 19-22, 2024.

The event embraced a broad definition of evidence, showcasing various types of research methods and findings throughout this portfolio. The evidence is categorized into four main areas:

  1. Practices, Pedagogies, and School Models: Evidence on improving social-emotional learning (SEL) and student well-being.
  2. Teacher Professional Development and Training Programs: Evidence from initiatives aimed at enhancing teacher skills and knowledge.
  3. Scaling Promising Innovations and Programs: Case studies and evidence on expanding successful educational innovations.
  4. Large-Scale Data Collection: Evidence from extensive data collection efforts involving teachers, students, and caregivers to inform policy.
